Do I need to be referred by a doctor to PKD am Städel to be treated?

A preferred way to be able to examine/treat you would indeed be by referral. If you come to an appointment at PKD am Städel, even if through referral, please make sure to have your insurance card with you.

 

What is a medical center for ambulatory care (MVZ)?

A medical center for ambulatory care is an accredited facility to grant statutory health care. Several physicians authorized to offer statutory health care are working together in an interdisciplinary environment under a medical director.

 

Is a statutory health insurance patient entitled to get any private medical services?

The private medical services offered at PKD am Städel are billed directly to the patient; the fees are based on the German scale of charges for physicians (GOÄ). The invoice can then be submitted for reimbursement to a private health insurance, for instance.
